# AI Speaks First

> Configure whether the AI opens the conversation immediately after the call connects.

By default, the AI waits for the contact to say hello before speaking. Enable **AI Speaks First** to have the AI open the conversation immediately after the call connects.

## First Message

When AI Speaks First is enabled, you can configure a **First Message** — the exact words the AI says at the start of the call. If left blank, the AI generates an opener based on your call script.
