# Voicemail Settings

> Configure what happens when a call reaches voicemail.

When a contact does not answer, the AI can leave a voicemail on your behalf. Configuring an effective voicemail message increases callback rates and keeps your brand consistent.

## Enabling Voicemails

**Leave Voicemail is on by default**, and Atllas auto-populates the voicemail message field with one generated from your call script and call details. You don't need to write anything to start — the campaign is ready to leave voicemails the moment you launch it.

If you don't want voicemails at all, toggle **Leave Voicemail** off. The AI will hang up as soon as voicemail is detected.

## Voicemail Message

You have two ways to set what gets read:

### Use the Auto-Generated Message

The default voicemail is already filled in for you. Review it on the Voicemail step — edit anything you want to change, or accept it as-is.

### Regenerate

If the auto-generated text doesn't fit, click **Generate with AI** to produce a new draft. The new draft replaces what was in the field. Repeat until you're happy with the message.

### Write Your Own

Replace the field's contents with whatever you'd like the AI to leave. Whatever's in the field is read verbatim on every voicemail — the voicemail message does not support personalisation tokens, so the same message is left for every contact.

## Tips for Effective Voicemails

* Keep it under 30 seconds — long voicemails are rarely heard in full
* State your name, company, and one clear reason for calling
* Include a callback number or next step
* Avoid scripted-sounding language; conversational works better
