# Credits & Billing

> How AI Calling credits work and how to manage your balance.

## How Credits Are Used

AI Calling deducts **one credit per connected call**. A call is considered connected the moment the other end picks up (whether a person or voicemail). Calls that don't reach a successful conversation — statuses **Failed**, **Cancelled**, or **DNC** (filtered out by Do Not Call list) — are refunded automatically.

### Recipients vs. Call Attempts

A credit is consumed per **call attempt**, not per recipient. A single recipient can therefore use more than one credit: if a contact has fallback numbers (`phone2`, `phone3`, …), Atllas dials each number in turn until one connects, and **every attempt that connects costs a credit**. Attempts that don't connect are refunded as usual.

This means a campaign's credit cost can be higher than its recipient count. When you reach the **Send** step, the portal shows the maximum number of calls the campaign could use (recipients × multi-number dialing) and warns you before launch if your remaining balance can't cover it.

## Viewing Your Balance

Your account balance and usage breakdown live under your **Account** page (open the avatar menu in the top-right and choose **Billing**).

## Monthly Allotment

Your subscription plan includes a set number of credits per month. The allotment resets on your billing cycle date — unused credits do not carry over.

## Purchasing Additional Credits

To buy additional credits, click the **Buy Credits** button in the top navigation bar (visible while you're inside an AI Calling page) and choose a credit package. Credits are added immediately and do not expire within the current billing period.

## Team Credit Allotments

If you are a team owner, you can allocate credits to individual team members. Each member draws from their allotment independently. See [Teams → Campaign Management](/docs/teams/campaign-management) for details.
