The greeting and voice are the first things a caller experiences. Getting them right sets the tone for the entire interaction.
Greeting Message
The greeting is what the AI says when it answers a call. It should be:
- Brief (one or two sentences)
- Clear about who the caller has reached
- Welcoming in tone
Example:
“Thanks for calling Acme Corp! I’m an AI assistant — how can I help you today?”
Character Limit
The greeting has a maximum of 200 characters. Long greetings slow the call start and can frustrate callers who want to speak immediately.
Tips
- Include your business name so the caller knows they reached the right place
- Mention that they are speaking with an AI — transparency builds trust
- Avoid filler phrases like “Please hold while I connect you” unless you are immediately forwarding
Voice Selection
Choose the voice your receptionist uses from the voice library. The same voice library available for AI Calling applies here, including any custom voice clones you have created.
See Voice Selection for full details on the voice library and cloning.
Language
Select the language for your receptionist. The AI will respond to callers in the selected language. If you serve callers in multiple languages, contact support for multilingual receptionist options.
If you select a non-English language, ensure your greeting message and FAQ responses are also written in that language.
Advanced Voice Settings
Fine-tune speech rate, stability, and similarity boost in AI Receptionist → Settings → Advanced Voice. See Voice Selection for a description of each setting.
